Is Noute free?

Yes. Noute is free to download and free to use locally on your Mac. There is no account or subscription required for local use.

Do I need an account or subscription?

No. You can download Noute and start using it locally without creating an account.

How private is Noute?

Your notes stay on your machine as plain Markdown files. Noute uses anonymous usage analytics to help improve the app, and you can turn that off anytime in Settings. No note content is sent.

Where do my notes live?

Noute stores your notes as regular Markdown files on your device, so they stay under your control and remain easy to back up or move.

Are my notes plain Markdown files?

Yes. Noute uses standard Markdown files so your notes stay readable, portable, and easy to keep outside the app.

Which Mac download should I choose?

Most people should choose Stable. Pick Apple Silicon for newer Macs with M-series chips, or Intel for older Intel-based Macs.

What's the difference between Stable and Early Access?

Stable is the safest default for everyday use. Early Access gets new features sooner, with a little more change along the way.

Can I turn analytics off?

Yes. Anonymous usage analytics can be turned off anytime in Settings.
